Alternative Programs

While most of SIM’s scholarship dollars go to candidates with a financial need who plan to attend one of 11 accredited Episcopal seminaries, the Society also supports students in alternative programs. Typically these students, who have a “call” from God to ordained ministry and significant gifts for ministry in the Episcopal Church, cannot afford the cost associated with a residential seminary education.

If these students are not supported financially, the Episcopal Church is deprived of potential clergy from a full range of socio-economic backgrounds and cultures. In response to listening to the Church about its needs, SIM has supported postulants and candidates in alternative education programs since 1996.

Those interested in alternative program scholarships should contact the SIM office at 860-233-1732.
