Gregory Morgan Greg Morgan is a rising senior at General Seminary in New York (M.Div.’12) and a postulant from the Diocese of West Missouri. He has lived in many parts of the country but considers himself a Midwesterner at heart. He had a full career in education prior to pursuing a call to ordained ministry, serving as a teacher of French, history and economics as well as Headmaster (20 years) in prep schools, both in Wisconsin and on the East Coast. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Washington and master’s degrees from the University of Michigan and Penn State; he also spent a year in France between college and grad school. Raised an American Baptist, he came to the Episcopal church through a school leadership opportunity in Washington, DC in 1980. His growing involvement in the life of Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral in downtown Kansas City, a more recent development, led directly to his pursuit of holy orders and reflects the important role EfM has played (student and mentor) in his spiritual development. His interests include Christian formation, preaching, liturgy, pastoral care and fundraising and he is considering positions in either parishes or Episcopal schools upon graduation. Greg has a grown daughter and two grandchildren on the coast of Maine. |

James T. Said Jim’s parents were Episcopal missionaries in Brazil, South American when he was a young so he graduated from Indiana University with a BA in Spanish and an Outside Field in Business Administration quite a while ago. He has spent most of his secular career working for manufacturing companies developing mutually beneficial business relationships, recruiting distribution partners, and selling high technology products and services to improve processes, manage information, and reduce costs.
He is married to his high school sweetheart, Kimberly Ann Said, whom he met at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Speedway, IN. They have two children, Courtney (25) and Taylor (22). Courtney is married to Christopher Demmings and has just given birth to their first Grandson, Rylen, who was born on December 26, 2010. Taylor is engaged to her longtime boyfriend and Marine, Eddie Blair. They are planning on being married on January 7, 2012 at St. Francis. Jim has felt God calling from the time he was a teenager but until now did not take any actions towards seminary. However, he started his official discernment on September 17, 2005 by attending Information Day sponsored by the Commission on Ministry for the Diocese of Indianapolis. Parish and Diocesan discernment sessions followed and Jim was accepted as a postulant in the Diocese of Indianapolis on February 2, 2007. Jim applied to Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS) and was accepted in 2008, however, due to the economy; Kim and Jim were not able to sell their home until 2010. They resigned from their jobs, sold most of their belongings and then moved to Alexandria, VA with their two labs, Georgia and Madison, to begin Seminary. Jim is a Middler at Virginia Theological Seminary and has completed one year of the 3 year requirement. He will begin his field work at the Church of the Epiphany in downtown Washington, DC. Please keep them in your prayers. |
