Sesquicentennial

Welcome to SIM

The Society for the Increase of the Ministry (SIM) provides direct financial support to those preparing for the ordained ministry of the Episcopal Church. SIM awards needs-based scholarships annually to worthy postulants and candidates with a financial need.

The Society is an independent, non-profit scholarship foundation. Most SIM grants are awarded to full-time students, who have been granted postulancy by their bishops and who are enrolled in a master of divinity program at the 11 accredited seminaries of the Episcopal Church. In addition, through an Alternative Program, SIM grants a limited number of scholarships to postulants meeting the same criteria who are preparing for ordination in the Episcopal Church at alternative educational institutions.

SIM has established The Fund for Future Leaders to support Episcopal seminarians and address the problem of seminarian debt. Income from this endowment will help provide financial support to develop committed, well-prepared and dynamic ordained leaders in the Episcopal Church.
