Scholarship Programs

Named Scholarship Program

The Society’s Named Scholarship Program provides opportunities for individuals, families and congregations to contribute a minimum of $100,000 to establish scholarships that bear the name of a person, family or congregation, according to the donor’s wishes.

Gifts to the Named Scholarship Fund go to the Endowment Fund of the Society. Endowment income is then used to provide scholarship support to seminary students in need.

Named Scholarships may be given in memory of a loved one, in honor of a person, in thanksgiving to God or as an extension of a congregation’s ministry.

SIM encourages donors and recipients to establish personal and ongoing relationships, so that they may get to know each other and share in one another’s ministries.

To discuss establishing a Named Scholarship, call the Rev. Canon John Mitman, executive director, at 860-233-1732.

Annual Scholarships

Through the annual scholarship program, an individual, family or congregation making a gift of $3,000 or more is matched with a worthy and appropriate seminarian chosen by the Scholarship Committee and SIM’s staff. The donor will receive a profile of the recipient who, in turn, will correspond with the donor. SIM hopes that donors will commit to the program for at least two years, so a more meaningful relationship may develop between the recipients and donors.

Annual Scholarships, which go directly to the student, may be given in memory of a loved one, in thanksgiving for God’s many gifts or to commemorate a significant event in the life of a person, family or donor parish.

Parish Partners Program

Through the Parish Partners Program, Episcopal parishes give financial support to the Society to help fund worthy candidates preparing for ordained ministry in the Episcopal Church. These gifts can come from outreach ministry budgets, Episcopal Church Women, clergy discretionary funds or other sources.

SIM encourages parishes and recipients to establish personal and ongoing relationships, so that they may get to know each other and share in one another’s ministries.

To become a Parish Partner, call the SIM office at 860-233-1732 or send an email to simministry@earthlink.net
