Thomas Moore III
Executive Director
Thomas Moore III joined the Society as Executive Director in April 2008. Tom is a graduate of the University of Virginia and holds an MBA from Emory University. In his early career, he attained his CPA and held various positions in financial management with corporations and financial services companies in Tennessee and the Northeast. He moved to the not-for-profit world in 1988 with his appointment at Massachusetts General Hospital. He comes to the Society after working most recently with the Friends of Canterbury Cathedral in the United States (FOCCUS); the Church Pension Group (CPG); and the Episcopal Church Center in New York.
The Rev. Canon John L.C. Mitman

The Rev. Canon John L.C. Mitman joined the Society as full-time Executive Director in 2001 and served until April 2008. He is an ordained priest of the Episcopal Church who has served congregations in Connecticut, Iowa, Michigan, New Hampshire, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. He spent 16 years in campus ministry at Dartmouth College and Michigan State University. Throughout his ministry, he has raised significant financial support both for ministries in the church and projects and ministries in the larger community.
The Rev. Canon Robert G. Carroon

The Rev. Canon Robert G. Carroon, D.Litt. is the Director of Scholarship Programs. A native of Missouri, he was ordained in 1962. He served parishes in Wisconsin and Connecticut and for 20 years was on the staff of the Diocese of Connecticut where he was Archivist, Historiographer and Assistant for Administration. He received his M.Div. from Nashotah House and has undergraduate and graduate degrees in history. He has served the Episcopal Church as a deputy to the last four General Conventions and also currently serves as the Secretary of the Board of Archives of the Episcopal Church. Canon Carroon is the author of five books and numerous articles on church and military history.
Ruth A. McElraevy

After working 11 years in the Hartford, CT, investment community, Ruth McElraevy joined the staff of the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut where she served for 20 years as Administrative Assistant to two Bishops of Connecticut. She joined the staff of SIM as Administrative Assistant in April 2002.
Joseph Batkiewicz
Financial Secretary

After 40 years of diversified experience in the field of accounting, Joe Batkiewicz spent time in both the corporate field and municipal government. Joe semi-retired and worked part-time as the financial secretary for St. James's Episcopal Church in West Hartford, CT from 1999 to 2007 and joined the SIM staff, also as a part-time employee, in November 2004. Joe is the financial secretary for SIM where he handles all the day-to-day accounting functions.
