Dr. Cowart’s Vision for SIM’s Future

In this conversational video, SIM Executive Director Dr. Courtney Cowart shares her elation and gratitude for the community of 100 Becoming Beloved Community SIM scholars, a cohort of theological students and active clergy and lay people committed to the work of justice. She also celebrates their courage, wisdom and commitment as articulated in contributions to The SIMinarian, a theological journal dedicated to lifting these scholars’ prophetic voices across the church. We are asked to imagine the impact of this burgeoning cohort, especially as their growing numbers are creating a unique beloved community of mutual support that will last throughout their ministries. With gratitude for what has already been accomplished, Courtney also invites her viewers to imagine what a doubling of SIM’s funding capacity can create in terms of an even wider community of scholars with similar commitments to justice.

Finally, Courtney makes a personal invitation to viewers to come closer to the work of SIM, not just SIM’s scholarships but also the important work of this organization in deepening the conversation about discernment across the church – in leadership and theological education.
